Twist1 activated circRNA-10720 is a new player in hepatocellular carcinoma metastasis
Abstract
Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a process that allows an epithelial cell to acquire a mesenchymal-like phenotype that enhances migration capacities. One of the first steps in the EMT process is the loss of cell-cell contacts, mediated in part by the loss of E-cadherin and other epithelial markers. Moreover, the acquisition of mesenchymal markers, such as Vimentin, is crucial in this process (1).
